Background: The program opened in 2001. It annually receives an average of 20 students.

Purpose of this Program:
To train specialists in the field of networks infrastructure and its telematic services, according to the current technological advances. The specialization has a high applicative component, it allows the student to develop study cases similar to the ones found at business level.

Justification:
Due to the Fact that Computer networks is a relatively new discipline, since it integrates the telecommunications world with the databases, telematic services, etc; there’s a great number of professionals in the areas of computing, electronics and telecommunications among others, who during their professional training received very basic principles in the telecommunications area or that their professional activities requests them a greater strengthening in this area. That’s the reason why the professionals, during their specialization, receive training in the foundation areas of data bases and advanced concepts on telecommunications networks that will allow the student to achieve a good knowledge level and skills development for the management of these systems.

Objectives:

  • To achieve knowledge and skills on infrastructure and databases networks protocols (communication means, LAN, WAN and PCP/IP networks, among others).
  • To understand the different protocols and infrastructures for the supplying of telematic services in databases.
  • To know the latest advances regarding convergent networks, multimedia services and services integration.
  • To provide the student some basic knowledge on the different architectures and Internet application development models.

Aimed at:

  • Systems or Computing Science Engineers.
  • Electronics, Telecommunications or Telematics Engineers.
  • Other engineering disciplines with experience in the area.
  • Other professionals with experience in the specialization area.

Graduate's Profile:
A graduate from the specialization will have knowledge of:

  • Data Networks.
  • Planning, design and Implementation of business communication networks.
  • Networks management.
  • Networks safety.
  • Selection of market’s alternatives for products and services regarding telecommunication and systems networks.

A graduate from the Specialization will be qualified in order to work in:

  • Networks and telematic services Planning and Design.
  • Computer network projects or areas Coordinator.
  • Research and Development (I D).
