Purpose of this Program:
There is no doubt that Liability constitutes one of the thematic axis of private law. However, its relevance transcends the scope of this area of law. Liability is an issue which concerns the state, society in general and the citizen that in his/her daily life faces problems that must be solved in the light of its postulates.
Causing damages with a vehicle, the breach of a contract, the arbitrary detention of a person, are different problems within the area of liability.
The dynamics of liability law implies a doctrine and jurisprudence, which are exceptionally dynamic and able of adapting the law (concretely in the liability issue) to the new facts.
The perspective of a liability specialization course, with dynamics and methodology different to the ones characterizing this type of studies in the scope of Law in our local environment, becomes a serious alternative in order to approach the study of the Liability and a whole set of problems emerging around such subject.
Objectives:
- To train Law Professionals with a deep knowledge in Liability and Insurances that allows them to apply in a proper manner the integral legal knowledge inherent to these subjects.
- To analyze the evolution of the Jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of Justice and the different Colombian Courts.
- To promote research in different issues regarding Liability and Insurances by means of the creation of study groups and the development of academic monographs.
- To identify research lines that allow the consolidation of research work in the development of the specialization.
- To know the trends regarding liability and insurance existing in the comparative law.
- To provide a concrete answer to the need the city has regarding the offer of a Specialization in Liability and Insurances that meets the current demand among lawyers coming from the academy as well from different sectors.

Graduate's Profile:
Professional: A solid theoretical and practical training in Liability and Insurances.
The professional awarded the Specialization in Liability and Insurance will have a solid training that will allow the graduate to work as a corporation's lawyer, since there is not a single company which does not face Liability and Insurance problems; Likewise, the professional could work as a Civil/Criminal/Labor or Administrative Judge, because at the bottom line almost all the judicial sentences end up referring to a damages indemnification. As a litigant lawyer, the Specialist in Liability will achieve a set of basic theoretical and practical knowledge for the professional exercise. Finally, given the methodology to be used, those graduates who have a teaching vocation will have the work skills to carry out their teaching in a more practical manner.
