Background:
In 1988 a group of hospital directors approached EAFIT and the CES (a medical school) to ask for a management program for the health care sector. A survey to clinic personnel and associations, public and private sectors, as well as the publication of a World Bank’s project on Latin America to improve efficiency of the sector by optimizing the use of resources, supported the launching of this program. More than experts and conductors of the current situation in the health sector; it is urgent to train analytical professionals who, based on research, will drive the changes required by the country in this sector.
Objectives:
- To bring awareness over the fact that all clinic and hospital processes are centered on people and that a good management of this situation starts with a humanistic reflection.
- To generate a systemic vision of the human factor in the health - illness process through a complex, interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach.
- To develop managerial skills to handle an institution’s various processes, through the analysis and synthesis of the managerial tools required by each Hospital Manager.
- To elicit a sense of reality of the multiple, different and complex variables being part in the context of health in Colombia.
