Background:
The MSc. Program was launched in 1998. Developed in cooperation with HEC-Montreal. This is full-time program, aimed at professionals geared towards research and teaching in Management. The participant acquires a critical ability for the reformulation of paradigms, their corresponding supporting theories, and their application to social context.
Other important elements of the program are:
- Its emphasis on the problems of management that affect organizations in our regional and national contexts.
- The complementation of the methodological and theoretical foundation of Management with the study of the organization as a social context of Management.
Objectives:
- To train consultants and teachers in the field of management (with functions in consultancy and research) in the management area, and having both a solid scientific background and an interpretive and critical position towards the praxis, schools and knowledge approaches that have contributed in the formation of the organizational and management theories.
- To set the foundations of the student's knowledge on mankind and human organizations, and its implications in the construction of an administrative theory that pays a real service to the society.
- To enhance a firm conceptualization of management in the actual Latin American and Colombian reality, thus raising awareness of the challenges that economic and social development imposes on management.
Aimed at:
Teachers with reflection skills, who also have additional functions in research a/o consultancy in any of the administrative areas, and the support from their respective institutions to devote themselves to carrying out a project that implies theoretical preparation and field investigation.
The Program is also offered to the consultants who can dedicate themselves to carrying out an actual development or research project during the studies; such project should be of interest to their companies, so that the candidate can meet the obligatory requirement of full time dedication, instead of the normal obligations they have to the company as actual employees.
Graduate’s Profile:
The Graduate of the M. Sc. In Business Administration can work in the fields of teaching and research, using the necessary elements to make teaching more than just a knowledge exhibition: a guide to prepare managerial staff with a broad scope of their socio-economic context, and solid criteria for the adoption, assimilation, and application of the administrative tools to achieve an assertive management. By doing research, the graduate can contribute to the better knowledge of our business reality when generating new individual theories and by applying knowledge about the processes existing in our organizations.
As consultants, they will be useful to the organization by contributing in the revision of its processes and structures, and addressing broader and more elaborated perspectives and criteria than those regularly offered by executive educational programs.
