The Specialization is offered as an alternative for the reaching of the academic and social area objective of making the universal literature a target of study, analysis, discussion and enjoyment. Since its opening in 2001, the program has had students from diverse professional backgrounds.

Purpose of this Program:
Although the Program does not ignore the importance of the subjectivity in the contact with the literature texts, it applies a sympathetic approach necessary for the definition of the individual affection, literature intuition and feelings. As a consequence, the creation of adequate conditions for a rational improvement of the form of this first contact becomes a fundamental purpose of the Program. Another purpose is the creation of a consequently future possibility of developing an intellectual, interpretative and pragmatic attitude between the reader and the written text.

In this sense, the program develops subjects referred to three areas of study: Literature Theory, Hermeneutics (Philosophical-Literature related); and Pragmatic Hermeneutics.

The first two areas are directed to the implementation of a series of models of analysis and interpretation and their application yields good results to the person interested in literature. And the third area is where the academic presentation and execution of hermeneutic exercises take place.

Justification:
The Specialization creates an academic setting where the exhaustive thinking over of the reading practice of literature texts is possible. There is no denial in the fact that such practice implies, (for many) a specialized hermeneutic task in which the reader has to assume the process of construction of meaning derived from the text.

Objectives:

  • To develop skills of interpretation of literary texts.
  • To facilitate the use and understanding of different models of literature analysis.
  • To generate positive academic attitudes towards reading and writing.

Aimed at: Professionals from multiple fields of knowledge that have a great interest in literature.
