Background: The program opened in 2001.
The Specialization in Urban Studies focuses on the enhancement of the comprehension of the socio-cultural dynamics, materialized in habitat behaviors that are necessarily taken into account at the moment of making plans, carrying out of projects, or, in general, application of intervention actions.
Objectives:
To promote an approach about the city visualized through a critical historical point of view, as well as through the scope of the anthropological-aesthetic approach. This approach should include the process of investigative initiatives that at the same time improve the traditional overviews about the city and its problems.
To apply the strategy of de-construction as a modern way of thinking. It allows viewing the city as a “textual supposition and multiplication of prints”, where the metaphysic strategies that have nurtured the urban discourses, and the metaphors that have constituted it, can be discovered.
Aimed at:
Professionals in the areas of Social Sciences, Humanistic, Architecture and related fields who would like to access an investigative study in the area of Urban Studies. It also includes professionals in the field of process intervention in the cities, (ONGs, official workers, etc.).
Graduate’s Profile:
The graduate from this specialization will have a theoretical and epistemological background that will allow him/her to analyze, understand and act upon urban aspects.
