Purpose of this Program:
The Economics program is aimed to provide the technical and scientific tools to enable the management of scarce resources in society. Analysis of productivity, wealth distribution and consumption habits are an important field for the Economic Science.
Objectives:
- To train professionals capable of leading the processes of social and economic transformation required in the country and in Latin America in line with the University institutional mission: respectful of the ideological pluralism that characterizes a community and committed to foster its integral development, in an atmosphere of academic excellence.
- To provide future Economists with a solid scientific and humanistic background, to understand the historical analysis of socioeconomic and cultural systems. To provide the tools for economic and financial studies of sectors, to design and to execute public and private planning projects, and to be able of providing their services as advisors to those institutions in the professional aspects that concern them.
- To train students in economic research.
Student's Profile:
The student of Economics must have Mathematics abilities and a good attitude towards reading.
Graduate’s Profile:
An Economics graduate will be able to work in private and public institutions in areas such as Planning, Economic research, or Socio-economic Project Evaluation.
The economist from EAFIT will be able of providing his/her professional services in specific areas related with one of the lines of emphasis to which she/he can choose:
