Background:
The International Business program started activities in 1993. It is the leading course in the bilingual requirement that the University has been implementing in all of its degree programs. It was created to provide students with skills to perform well in enterprise competitiveness.
Purpose of this Program:
Currently, there is a demand for professionals with analysis and negotiation ability in any place and culture due to the accelerated changes that affect the world. The International Business program intends to provide an answer to this request, by preparing a new generation of negotiators qualified to work in this modern economy, by generating a positive response to:
- The Internationalization Processes of the Colombian Economy.
- The needs for adaptation of the companies to a competitive environment.
- Organizational changes.
- Foreign Legal requirements.
- Relevance of the technological variable.
- Computing Science and Telecommunications developments.
- Improving negotiation skills.
Objectives:
The International Business program has the following objectives:
- To foster a vision, an open and innovating mind to face change and differences between human groups.
- To develop analysis skills regarding the economic/technologic/politic/legal and social variables of the international scope in which the organizations are imbedded.
- To develop negotiation skills to take advantage of the opportunities underlying the development of both the country and the organization.
- To foster the learning of several languages, besides English, which can open doors in the current business world
- To promote an ethical attitude facing the moral diversity existing in the international business environment.
Student’s Profile:
The International Business student must have an open mind; must be ambitious, focusing on the processes and results, and must feel attracted by different languages and cultures.
Graduate’s Profile:
The International Negotiator may hold positions in activities related with the assessment and opening of new markets, the search of international resources for the company and the structuring of strategic alliances. Likewise, s/he may be useful supporting or managing change to achieve adaptation of the company to the international environment. Our graduates will have a global vision of the business world, accurate criteria and respect for other cultures, acknowledging and respecting differences.
With the professional training provided by EAFIT, graduates may handle:
