Academic Information (Spanish):

Degree:
Physics Engineer

Delivery Mode:
On campus. Maximum workload is 19 credits (six courses).

Duration:
Eleven (11) semesters, one (1) Internship period included.

Head of the program:
Mr. Mario VELEZ
E-mail: mvelez@eafit.edu.co

Background: The program opened in 2004.

Purpose of the Program
Engineering Physics is a merge between Engineering and Physics. It is aimed at giving students the analytical tools and the foundation of the principles in physics. In other words, the program aims to give the Applier Physician a wider spectrum, in order to attempt the solution of a wide range of practical problems.

Objectives:
The objective of the Engineering Physics program is to prepare professionals with excellent foundations in fundamental sciences. Applied physics is the connecting wire in the scientific training as well as several other fundamental subjects of engineering that will eventually enable the comprehension, appropriation and application of the principles involved in the solution of different real problems associated with the use of the new technologies.

Student's Profile:
The student should stand out for:

  • Having a broad knowledge of Physics, and a positive attitude for applying solutions to problems.
  • Having instrumental skills in engineering and the ability to apply the appropriate tools given by scientific knowledge to the solution of technological problems.
  • Having a broader training and flexibility to contribute in and out of the different engineering fields.
  • Having a humanistic education, communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

Graduate Profile
The Physics Engineer will be able to perform well in:

  • Creating technology-based companies.
  • The creation and Management of Technological projects.
  • Inter - disciplinary engineering and science jobs.
  • Companies from the productive sectors that work with new technologies which are difficult to implement.
  • Research areas and development of products and services that involve the use of new technologies.
