Purpose of this Program
The Political Science program is based on humanistic and scientific instruction. It fosters analysis, interpretation and eventual transformation of the local, national and international political problems with an ethical, critical and rigorous mentality.
With this program, EAFIT University responds to the real and urgent need – in the region and in the country - of training individuals exclusively devoted to the reflection of the broad, changing and increasingly complex political world.
The political/scientific-technological/economic-social and cultural transformations that were not imaginable some years ago, happen to be daily realities that affect the local and global environment of today. Those transformations imply new challenges. It is necessary to understand, from the political science point of view and its interactions with other disciplines, the issues on power, citizenship, private or public institutions, democracy and the State. Politics is essentially a human activity which, besides serving as a means to understand the organizational processes, and the distribution and the legitimization of power, must contribute to the search for improvement of life in the society.
