The objective is to offer students an opportunity of academic and cultural enrichment, through a regional experience.
Requirements:
At the time of application, students must be registered as a regular student in at least the third semester of their undergraduate program.
It is required not to be subject of any disciplinary sanction or have a conditioned acceptance.
To demonstrate a GPA of at least 3.5 over 5.0
The director of studies must have approved the subjects to be taken at the host university, and they should correspond with the requirements for graduation at the home institution.
• The student must be accepted by the host university; the application must be made through the co-ordinator of the university programme within the
established period; said co-ordinator will send the application to the co-ordinator of the host university.
• The participant universities can establish additional requisites both for their own students going to other institutions, and for those students that they
are receiving.
• Period of stay in host university
• Students can spend one teaching period, a year or a term, according to the study plan of the host university.
Recognition of courses
The course head or director of studies in the university of origin must authorise the courses to be taken in the host university before the application is made. This authorisation should state that the courses will be automatically recognised in the university where the student will graduate.
Matriculations during term-time in SIGUEME
The student matriculates in the university of origin, in the courses approved by his/her director of studies, after being accepted by the host university. The proof of payment must be presented in the host university when matriculating for the respective courses.
Payments in the host university
The host university can charge those fees additional to matriculation which it would normally charge
to its own students. This might include the value of a student card, and accident insurance.
Courses of study at the host university
The student must take sufficient courses in order for his/ her study programme to be considered full-time. The student can study those courses which make up the normal study plan in the host university and which have been agreed with the director of studies in the university of origin. The host university cannot establish 'special courses' different to those normally in the study plan. At the end of term, the host university will send the university of origin certification of the final grades attained in each course of study.
Academic and disciplinary regime
The student will be subject to the academic and disciplinary regime of the host university. He or she will have to agree to this in writing before beginning their courses in the host university. Any problems will be reported to the university of origin, which can also take sanctionary measures.
End date for presenting the application
For the January - June term: Students must present their applications to the local co-ordinator of the SIGUEME programme in their university of origin before the 30th October of the preceding year. For the second term, applications are due before the 7th May of the same year.
Documents required securing a place
An inscription form that should be taken to the local co-ordinator of the SIGUEME programme in the university of origin. This must be filled in completely and signed by the applicant, and by the director of studies in the university of origin. The certificate should also contain all the grades attained during the course of studies.
Selection of students for the SIGUEME programme
In the first instance, the application must be approved by the director of studies in the university of origin. The final selection of participants will be made by the corresponding director of studies in the host university.
