What I liked most of Leipzig was all the facilities students have. For example, the semester ticket, which allows a student to take all the trams or buses one wants for the whole semester, for only 80DM. Dorms with internet's connection. The German Library (Deutsche Bibliotek) is fantastic. The Mensa, the wide offer of cultural events, festivals and parties all year long, and its proximity to other very interesting cities like Dresden, Berlin, Meißen, Riesa, Weimar, and so on. It is still possible there to experience the transition between the catastrophic socialism and the prosperous capitalism. One can see today all the atmosphere of a historic and very commercially active city. The transport itself within the city is very efficient; I enjoyed it, specially the night bus. The "brunch" every Sunday in the principal bars was also wonderful. Since I arrived by train in Leipzig I got a very wrong impression of the city, because in our approximation I only saw old abandoned nightmare houses or "Lego style" Buildings. When one arrives in the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) one fells like in a dream, because Leipzig have one the most (very probably the most) beautiful Stations in Europe .

Obviously, an exchange semester in Colombia is more than an opportunity to learn Spanish (although this is an obligatory part of it...); Studying in Medellin gives you a new perspective not only on your academic subject but more importantly on life in general. Of course: security is an issue. Yet, be sure that some of the first things you will learn in Colombia are what not to do and where not to go. If you stick to these rules, Medellin can be safer than most major cities in the US.

Spending one semester in Medellin is an experience I will never forget. The only bad thing about it is that it's way too short!"

"Being at EAFIT is a great way to experience Medellín. There is so much going on culturally in the University for students to take advantage of: Jazz festivals, dance, workshops in everything from drawing and jewelry making to yoga. And of course the swimming pool is nice after a hot day.”

Due to the fast integration into society and the exciting classes it was possible to learn more about this divers country, the warmth of its people, the fascinating culture and what it means to be “Paisa”. Finally, it is also a great possibility to learn and improve Spanish and to get to know a country that is totally different than its traditional image abroad. Truly, this exchange may be a lifetime experience for every student.
