Professor Giuseppe Arbia: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome (Italy)

Giuseppe Arbia is a Full Professor of Economic Statistics at the Faculty of Economics, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge (UK) and a post-doc at the University of California at Santa Barbara (USA). His research interests are mainly in the fields of spatial statistics, GIS and image analysis, sampling techniques, and the quantitative analysis of economic growth and poverty. He has published more than 150 articles, 6 books and 7 book chapters. Professor Arbia is member of the editorial board of the journals "Empirical Economics", "Papers in Regional Science," and "Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences." He is president of the Spatial Econometrics Association and a member of scientific societies: International Statistical Institute, the American Statistical Association, Royal Statistical Society, Regional Science Association and the Italian Statistical Society.

Professor Badi H. Baltagi: Syracuse University (USA)

Badi H. Baltagi is distinguished Professor of Economics, and Senior Research Associate at the Center for Policy Research, Syracuse University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. He is also part-time Chair in Economics, University of Leicester, and was a visiting Professor at the University of Arizona and the University of California, San Diego. Professor Baltagi is co-editor of “Economics Letters” and “Empirical Economics,” and associate editor of “Journal of Econometrics” and “Econometric Reviews.” He is the replication editor of the “Journal of Applied Econometrics” and the series editor for “Contributions to Economic Analysis.” He is a fellow of the “Journal of Econometrics” and a recipient of the Multa and Plura Scripsit Awards from Econometric Theory. He has published 154 articles, 15 books and 35 book chapters.

Professor James LeSage: Texas State University at San Marco. (USA)

James LeSage is Fields Endowed Chair in Urban & Regional Economics, McCoy College of Business Administration, Dept. of Finance and Economics at Texas State University at San Marco (USA). He received his Ph.D. in Economics at Boston College. His research interests are spatial statistical modeling, application of Bayesian methods to regional and urban econometric modeling and Bayesian spatial econometrics. He has published more than 90 articles, 2 books and 23 book chapters. Professor LeSage is co-Editor of “Papers in Regional Science” and member of the editorial board of the journals “Geographical Analysis,” “Review of Regional Studies,” “Papers in Regional Science,” “Journal of Geographical Systems,” “Case Studies in Business,” “Industry and Government Statistics” and “Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences.”
  

Professor Gianfranco Piras: Regional Research Laboratory, University of West Virginia (USA)

Gianfranco Piras is a Research Assistant Professor at the Regional Regional Institute at West Virginia University. He was previously a postdoc in the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University, having also spent time at the University of Illinois (Regional Economic Application Laboratory), Arizona State University (GeoDa center) and Universidad Catolica del Norte (IDEAR) following his PhD in Econometrics and Empirical Economics at "Tor Vergata" University in Rome. His research interests include spatial econometrics and statistics, regional economics, spatial hedonic models, computational methods and software development and health economics. He is also one of the developers of the R software for statistical computing. He is currently working on two libraries, one for the estimation of spatial panel data models (splm) and one for the application of GM methods in spatial econometrics (sphet). He has published 17 articles and 3 books chapters.
