Dr. Elizabeth Suescún Monsalve is professor in the Informatics and Computer Science Department at EAFIT University. She got her PhD in Computer Science at the Department of Informatics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) under the supervision of Prof. Julio Cesar Sampaio do Prado Leite. She got her master degree at the same department and under the supervision of the same professor. She is a System and Informatics Engineer graduated from Politecnico Colombiano JIC (Colombia). Her currently research areas are Software Engineering, Intentional Modeling, Software Transparency, Usability, Educational Games and HCI.
In particular, she has worked in the area of games-based learning (GBL) intended to make the teaching-learning more transparent. The concept of transparency is focused on the definition of disclosed information and this is already applied in the scope social, governmental, organizational processes and software. She has worked on intentional modeling (i*) which was used to represent games for teaching software engineering. This modeling is used to elicit goals, represent the interaction and intentionality between players in the process. A set of heuristics are used to built software product implementation. At work, she had worked as an Analyst Developer and Business Analyst on projects oriented enterprise software in the energy sector and natural gas.
She also holds a habilitation to supervise PhD students from the Doctorate of Engineering Programme at EAFIT University.
Has experience in Computer Science, focusing on Software Engineering, acting on the following subjects: Requirements engineering, HCI, Games for Education, Software Transparency, Software Reference Architectures and Software Engineering for Scientific Computation.
Currently, She has been teaching 3 undergraduate courses:
