Teaching and Research University

Since 2005, the Children’s University program has built bridges between elementary, secondary and higher education.

Questions are the starting point for the “Encuentros con la pregunta” (Question-Based Encounters) program, which welcomes children and adolescents from 35 schools in different municipalities across Antioquia.

Through games and different artistic expressions, the 200 young people who participate each month find the answers they are looking for.

Close to 350 children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 16 also take part each year in the “Expediciones al conocimiento” (Knowledge Expeditions) program, which is open to those who have completed “Encuentros.” Groups work on projects in a variety of subject areas, visiting different parts of the campus related to their topic and holding conversations with professors and researchers.

Both programs use the Waldorf, Orff and constructivist methods, as well as theatrical improvisation, to train participants, who represent the first level of a research community that is also composed of incubators and research groups.

The Children’s University relies on four guiding principles to impact and transform all participants: making questions the driving force behind all activities, basing our courses of action on an exchange of ideas; generating comprehensive awareness of the world around us and forging networks with a focus on diversity.
