EAFIT has proclaimed itself to be a teaching and research university, an aspiration that requires generating new knowledge and better solutions to the needs of government and the productive sectors.

It is important in research to strive for relevance and coherence, key elements in providing significant contributions to the problems and needs of the world around us.
To that end, EAFIT’s research system is made up of groups and research “incubator” networks that help strengthen our institution through their activities and projects.
In addition, the Children’s University program complements our system and promotes a quest for knowledge through “Encuentros con la pregunta” (Question-Based Encounters) and “Expediciones al conocimiento” (Knowledge Expeditions), learning spaces in which close to 1,000 children and adolescents participate each year.
As part of our institution’s commitment in this regard, EAFIT invests close to 10 percent of its budget to to enhance the qualifications of its personnel as well as to adapt existing facilities and provide new spaces for research.
