Visiting professor teaching position Risk analysis in projects

​​​​The School of Management at Universidad EAFIT announces the availability of a short-term teaching position for a master's-level course on risk management.

Duration of stay: seven weeks.

Period of visit: between March and August of 2017. Candidates must be available during this timeframe. The School of Management will arrange the precise time of the visit in consultation with the winning candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching a 32-hour Spanish-language master's course on risk analysis to students of master's programs within the School of Management.
  • A talk on this theme or other pertinent theme of current research at one of the University's locations
  • Workshop for School of Management faculty.


The program covers the following costs

  • Airfare.
  • Lodging.
  • Food.
  • Local transport.
  • Transport to and from local airport.
  • Honoraria (specific amount conditional upon seniority of winning candidate).


Applicant profile

  • PhD or doctoral candidate in Management or related field.
  • Teaching experience on the stipulated theme.
  • Publications in the teaching field or related areas.
  • Capacity to lecture and evaluate students in Spanish.


Application requirements

Completion of application form (see link), and attachment of:

  • ​CV.
  • Copy of doctoral diploma and/or official transcript.  Doctoral students should include a current official letter from their university certifying their good standing.
  • Cover letter (in Spanish) indicating suitability for the position, detailing prior teaching and/or related work experience and publications in the field. Copy of passport photo page.
  • A proposed syllabus. The syllabus should be geared toward master's-level students in management-related fields (MBA, MIB, Marketing, etc.). It should include 32 weeks of class time over an intensive four-week span (two four-hour sessions per week). The applicant is generally free to design the course according to his or her preference, but must integrate theoretical and practical aspects of the field, provide an introduction to data analysis techniques and the most widely used tools and software in the field. The syllabus must cover at least the following: a conceptual introduction to uncertainty and risk; factors that generate risk at the project level; risk analysis approaches; methods of quantitative analysis; and the application of simulations in risk analysis.

Selection process and schedule

  • ​​​Applications will be accepted from November 30, 2016 until 6:00 p.m. on January 31, 2017.
  • Finalists will be notified on February 7, 2017.
  • Interviews (via video link) will be conducted with finalists between February 14 and 24, 2017.
  • The winning candidate will be announced on February 27​.​
