Description:
Universidad EAFIT’s School of Economics and Finance ranks among the top 12% in South
America and is considered one of the best in Colombia, according to the Ideas/RePEC
international ranking. It comprises the Economics and Finance Departments.
The Center for Research in Economics and Finance (CIEF) is fed from the scientific
production of the Department of Economics and Finance, and it comprises two
recognized research groups. The Economics and the Firm Group conducts research in the
areas of macroeconomic analysis, economic conditions, public sector economics, education
economics, labor economics, impact evaluation, industrial organization and economic
regulation. The Finance and Banking Group performs research in corporate finance,
financial engineering, financial markets, microfinance, firm valuation and derivatives, risk
and investment management.
The Director will report to the Dean and be part of the School’s senior management team.
The duties of the Director will be combined with those of an academic member of faculty.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing a strategy to manage and oversee the quality, quantity and impact of
research and consultancy
- Mentoring junior professors and researchers
- Supporting Universidad EAFIT’s international cooperation projects
- Overseeing the School’s research resources, as well as their impact
- Organizing academic and policy events.
The candidate should be able to develop a strong research agenda and may teach Master´s
and Ph.D. level courses.
Hiring Conditions
Type of contract: Fixed-term employment contract for a year. The contract is likely to be
extended for another year or changed to an indefinite post once academic tenure is granted,
upon compliance with the requirements established in Universidad EAFIT's Faculty
Statute.
Full-time/Part-time: Full-time
Place of work: Universidad EAFIT, Medellin main campus, with occasional short trips to
other cities and/or countries.
Requirements
1. Graduate degree: Ph.D. in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, or Finance.
Degrees obtained abroad must be recognized under the current Colombian
regulations (Ministry of National Education Resolution 06950 of May 2015). This
requirement can be met after the candidate has been hired and is already residing
and working in Colombia.
2. Five-year teaching experience as full-time professor at a higher education institution
of national or international recognition; otherwise, a minimum of seven (7) years of
professional or research experience.
3. Demonstrate the development of at least seven (7) products in Economics or
Finances in the last four (4) years. These developments must have been indexed and
published on the WoS or Scopus databases.
