Visa and Entry Requirements

Visa

Students that can stay with a PID stamp.

It is possible to stay in the country only with a stamp on your passport. Below we will list the guidelines and requirements to stay in Colombia through the PID Seal (Integration and Development Permit). If you come from the Schengen Area and you will be in Colombia for a maximum of 180 days, you are not required to apply for a visa. You can enter the country by showing the PID Letter and the acceptance letter provided by the International Relations office.

Students that have to apply for a Colombian Visa

You need to apply for a VISA if you belong to any of these groups:

  • I am a student from a country that does NOT belong to the Schengen area and I will do an exchange for 90-180 days.
  • I am a student who has applied to a double degree program and I will be in Colombia for more than 180 days.
  • I am an exchange student for one academic year (2 semesters).
The VISA application process is carried out directly at the Cancillería Colombiana.

Unfortunately we do not have a visa assistance service, therefore we recommend you to read the instructions very well and contact the online chat service in case of any doubts with the process. To apply for the Visa, please click here. You must select the type of visa: V

For this procedure, you will have to attach certain documents, including the acceptance letter from EAFIT and the visa application letter (both letters are sent to the student directly via email).

To guarantee your stay at EAFIT, you will show your stamped visa/PID during the orientation day to the International mobility advisor. Remember that you will be officially enrolled and presented to the Colombian immigration office, once EAFIT scan this document and sends the report. The visa must be stamped in your passport, an electronic visa is not allowed. If you can't have the visa stamped in your passport in your own country, you can initially process the electronic visa, and later you must arrive in Colombia, directly at the embassy of your country, to carry out this procedure (generally in Bogotá).
