Global Design for Kids
Design Criteria
Review rules and recommendations suggested in the Public Playground Safety Handbook Annex and the Web site. The challenge of a broad topic such as this must consider certain criteria such as:
- Durability: You can have an adequate shelf life without deterioration for a minimum of 1 year.
- Low cost: economic feasibility for design, models or prototypes, serial production, adaptation and final installation space.
- Versatility: Ease and convenience in construction, assembly, disassembly and repair or maintenance.
- Materials: Materials available in the region as well as for costs.
- Adaptability: Considering the types of users, to the rites and recreational activities they perform, to the processes of learning and education or environmental protection demand.
- Logistics: Possibility to install and remove to send for repair or replacement of parts, events that require adjustments or use of accessories such as covers, protection or control systems and security.
- Production and manufacturing: Potential for massively elaborate. Consideration of use of skilled labor or to form in the field.
- Feature: Who responds to the needs and desires, stimulating and original, versatile, conducive to aesthetic experience, bodily, sensory, etc.
- Resistance: Quality materials, structural design, impact resistance, abuse or vandalism.
- Sustainability: Reducing footprints, recycling, reuse, life cycle, etc.
- Maintenance and repair: Power to do maintenance without compromising usability and availability.
- Security: ensuring that the risk of injury can be minimized or avoided, either by design, for the use of materials and other specifications.
