Program description

The Master in International Business (MIB) is an innovative offer to fill a gap in current international business education in Latin America. Specifically it offers, on the one hand, advanced studies in the areas of firm internationalization, international relations, and international conflict management and, on the other hand, the option of a research-oriented study mode responding to an increased demand to train consultants, researchers, and lecturers in international business in Latin America. Thus, the interested student can choose between either the practice-oriented study mode (“profundización”) (40 credits) or the research-oriented study mode (“investigación”) (44 credits) depending on his or her professional aspirations and personal interests. The MIB is designed, first and foremost, for graduates of international business undergraduate programs. All courses are offered in English which requires an equivalent certification upon entry. The MIB imparts state-of-the-art knowledge within the field of international business so that students are acquainted and confronted with the latest research in the area they have chosen. Therefore, the program counts on a large number of international visiting professors from our partner institutions around the world. Equally, students have the possibility to participate in regular international field and study trips and to participate in international student exchanges and summer-schools.

Objectives
Graduates of the Master in International Business possess advanced knowledge in one of the areas of the multidisciplinary field of international business – firm internationalization, international relations, and international conflict management.

  • The practice-oriented study mode allows the student to develop the necessary competences to analyze and solve specific situations within his or her chosen area. This is achieved by mastering, with scientific rigor, the distinct concepts, models, paradigms and theories of the multidisciplinary field of international business.
  • The research-oriented study mode allows the student to develop research competences with the aim of generating new knowledge within his or her chosen area. This is achieved by mastering, with scientific rigor, the distinct concepts, models, paradigms and theories of the multidisciplinary field of international business.
