Program description

What is the program about?
The Master program in Economics seeks, first, to offer the students a basic knowledge at an advanced level in the main areas of study in economics, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, together with mathematics as the main tool. Second, to offer specific knowledge to those students willing to undertake an advanced learning process in quantitative methodologies with emphasis on research (research track), and to those with specific interests in applied areas of micro- or macroeconomics, giving emphasis to academic specialization (applied specialization track).

  • An increasing and more exigent demand of economic knowledge for business and public affairs development.
  • The quality of our faculty.
  • The experience of our research groups.

Addressed to
The program addresses the interests of professionals seeking to receive advanced training in economics and, in particular, the interests of individuals aspiring to develop a career in research or to specialize in areas related to applied micro- and macroeconomics.

The orienting principle of the Master program in Economics is founded on academic and social coherence and pertinence, and structured under a double track system that comprehends research and applied specialization.

The applied specialization track allows the student to properly apply economic concepts, theories, and quantitative tools, in order to develop rigorous scientific analysis. The research track allows the student to build a solid knowledge of the fundaments underlying modeling and economic theory, and to address them with critical vision and adaptive capacity to new contexts.
