Purpose of the Program
The program in Economics is aimed at providing the students with the technical, analytical and scientific tools to manage the scarce resources of the society. Analysis of productivity, wealth distribution, and consumption habits are important fields in the Economic Science.

Objectives
- To train professionals capable of leading the processes of social and economic transformation required in the country and in Latin America in line with the University institutional mission, that is, respectful of the ideological pluralism that characterizes a community and committed to foster its integral development, in an atmosphere of academic excellence.
- To provide future Economists with a solid scientific and humanistic background that allows them to understand the historical context of socioeconomic and cultural systems.
- To provide the students with the appropriate tools to undertake sectoral and business studies in regard to economic and financial aspects, to design and execute both public and private planning projects, and to pursue a career as advisors of public and private institutions in economic-related matters.
- To train students in economic research.
