Is Business Administration the same thing as International Business?
Business Administration is not the same as International Business. The Business Administration graduate has a full command of administration both in the theoretical and practical sense while the International Business graduate is able to plan and execute the internationalization of all types of organizations through analysis of the economic, political, legal, social and cultural environment in all countries and regions, combined with negotiation. The activities that an economic negotiator will be able to carry out are the following:

  • Activities related to foreign trade and international logistics.
  • International logistics.
  • Analysis of the international economic environment with relation to business.
  • International negotiation and commercial techniques.
  • International financial analysis.
  • The legal environment for international business.
  • Express him/herself with fluency in English.
  • Basic knowledge of a third language.

Why study International Business at EAFIT?
The International Business program at Universidad EAFIT was the first to be created in Colombia. The university also has agreements allowing for the joint awarding of degrees with a number of foreign universities. (For more information see the International Relations office website)

Are there exchange agreements with other Colombian universities?
Yes. Universidad EAFIT forms part of the Red SIGUEME, a network of various Colombian universities which allows students to do a semester of their course in one of these institutions. It also has agreements with other universities not belonging to the aforementioned network and which seek to promote student mobility among themselves. The cities where students may attend through these agreements include Bogotá, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cartagena, Cali, and Manizales. (For more information see the International Relations Office Website.)

Can I study for two different degrees simultaneously at EAFIT?
Yes, it’s possible. Once you enter the university you may apply to do so. The heads of both programs will then evaluate your study plan and homologate the common subjects. This will allow you to not only take two professional programes at the same time but also to do so in less time than it would normally take to do two undergraduate courses.

Does the International Negotiator always work abroad?
No, the International Negotiator works in an international space but that does not necessarily mean in another country.

Yes, a high level of English is required because some subjects are taught only in this language. With regard to TOIC test, a score of 650 points is required. For further details of the English requirements for the course click here.

Are other languages, other than English, required?
Yes, while you can start the program with English alone, before you do the internship and at the end of the sixth semester; you must demonstrate knowledge of a third language (German, French, Italian, Portuguese or Japanese). How are fees paid to EAFIT?
