Jurse 2021 Jurse 2021 Save the date!

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Joint Urban Remote Sensing Event (JURSE) is a forum of excellence where researchers, practitioners and students present, share, and discuss their latest findings and results. An very dynamic online version of the Joint Urban Remote Sensing Event (JURSE) will take place in February 2022, organized by researchers from EAFIT University in Medellin, Colombia. ​ 

This event is committed to introduce innovative methodologies and technological resources recently employed to investigate the manifold aspects of the urban environment through orbital and airborne remote sensing data.​ 

Emerging topics like new methods for urban land cover and land use classification with detailed discrimination of urban targets, 3D modeling of urban buildings, forecast and impact assessment of natural and man-made hazards in urban areas, urban social studies, urban ecology, urban climatology as well as data fusion, algorithms and techniques for remotely sensed data interpretation, and multisource remote sensing data will be approached.

The objectives of JURSE 2022 Online Lounge are:​

 ​

  • Gathering people coming from academia, industry, local and national/inter national agencies together to discuss topics related to remote sensing for urban monitoring.
  • Fostering the research and the applications of available da ta sets over urban areas, with special consideration for high resolution satellite data and data fusion.
  • Providing new ideas for developing senso rs and/or systems able to analyz e and monitor urban areas.
  • Improving the knowledge and the know - how by means of the interaction of researchers coming from different communities (photogrammetry, signal processing, co mputer vision, geomatics, data science, town and regional planning, geology, hydrology, climatology, ecology, etc . ) in this truly interdisciplinary field.

JURSE is technically co-sponsored by IEEE-GRSS and ISPRS. Due to the constrains imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and local security concerns, the 2022 edition of the JURSE conference is going to be a special one. The event will be held online, with a duration of 2.5 hours each day for three days, and it will feature short keynote lectures, oral presentation sessions, poster pitches, daily engagement challenges, as well as dedicated virtual spaces for networking and catching up with friends from this community.

  •  (8 August) Keynote speaker confirmed: architect and urban planner Carlos H. Jaramillo will deliver a keynote about Medellin's urban transformation in recent decades. 
  • ​(10 August) Keynote speaker confirmed: photographer Johnny Miller will present us his awesome project about uncovering inequality in cities using drone photography.
