In this exhbition, the works produced from the studios are expected to convey a strong physical presence with a deep understanding in the social dynamics that give form to our built environment. The SBGS will function as a research platform that harbors various interpretation and approaches on exploring how the collective actions contribute to the urban vitality and bring difference to the society using architecture as a medium

El SBGS funcionará como una plataforma de investigación que alberga diversas interpretaciones y enfoques para explorar cómo las acciones colectivas contribuyen a la vitalidad urbana y aportan diferencias a la sociedad utilizando la arquitectura como medio.
The Thematic Exhibition is an invitation to radically reimagine the structure of our cities, a provocation to fundamentally reprioritise, shifting focus from the success of the individual and capital through real-estate speculation and the commodification of land, to foreground collective rights and to claim the city as a shared investment.
(Esp) La Exposición temática es una invitación a reimaginar radicalmente la estructura de nuestras ciudades, una provocación a priorizar fundamentalmente, cambiando el enfoque del éxito del individuo y el capital a través de la especulación inmobiliaria y la mercantilización de la tierra, a los derechos colectivos en primer plano y a reclamar la ciudad como inversión compartida.
In this exhibition, Alejandro and Jorge intend to analyze, synthesize and assess the results and progress achieved through two points of view that defined two different, but complementary scales of intervention; the large scale of urban and metropolitan planning and strategic projects, with decision making processes in terms of city planning and institutional interventions with strong impact, versus the intermediate and small scale of the Social Urbanism strategy in the most critical neighborhoods of the city, that use collaborative processes with the community to improve their everyday itinerary. Studying these roles of the urban project and their interdependence as a tool for different scales of urban management, the two voices present strategies as agents of change that strengthen agreements and shared visions, from citizen participation and democratic development.

Our work aims to build fair processes in emerging areas that are in constant dispute. These areas face a tension between economic and infrastructural development and the protection of natural resources and local communities. The basin of the Atrato River and the northern area of the Aburrá River –Río Norte- are clear examples of this tension.
