This research is conducted by a scan of different biocompatible polymers that can be used to manufacture custom cranial implants and other manufacturing processes by which such products could be manufactured. Then it is adapted or it is generated a process in order to make economically feasible the implementation in the environment. The project was driven by the need to make available to the Latin American region the development of personalized medical solutions that not only improve the quality of life of patients, but the leading and increase in the competitiveness of the medical sector, thanks to optimization of available resources.
In addition, the project is the first phase (polymer), which includes two research program custom cranial implants proposed by the Research Group Engineering Design, aims to achieve efficient manufacturing in terms of time and cost, and a reduction in waste of materials, maintaining appropriate dimensional accuracy.
