Resumen/Summary
Mi investigación se centra en el estudio de la estratigrafía y la paleontología para determinar cuantitativamente los factores geológicos que han controlado la arquitectura estratigráfica (i.e., distribución de los ambientes sedimentarios y la variación de las tasas de sedimentación en el espacio y el tiempo) de una cuenca y los factores abióticos que han influido en los procesos evolutivos (biológicos) y ecológicos en el largo plazo (i.e. millones de años).
Intereses académicos e investigativos/Research and Teaching Interest
Mis intereses académicos e investigativos están relacionados con las siguientes preguntas:
- ¿Qué factores han controlado la arquitectura estratigráfica de una cuenca?
- ¿Es posible probar cuantitativamente hipótesis relacionadas con la distribución espacial y temporal de las rocas sedimentarias con base en los fósiles?
- ¿Es posible extraer señales biológicas y geológicas del registro sedimentario?
- ¿Qué lecciones podemos aprender para un presente y futuro dominados por cambios antrópicos con base en las relaciones biosfera-geosfera-sistema clima estudiando el pasado?
