Resumen CV / Summary

Mi investigación se centra en el estudio de la estratigrafía y paleontología como medio para determinar cuantitativamente los factores geológicos que han controlado la arquitectura estratigráfica (i.e., distribución de los ambientes sedimentarios y la variación de las tasas de sedimentación en el espacio y el tiempo) de una cuenca y los procesos evolutivos (biológicos) en el largo plazo (i.e. millones de años).

My primary scientific motivation is to gain a comprehensive interpretation of sedimentary rocks in order to obtain a full understanding on questions such as: What factors have controlled the stratigraphic architecture (i.e., distribution of the sedimentary environments and the variation of sedimentation rates in space and time) of a given basin? Is it possible to quantitatively test hypotheses related to the spatial and temporal distribution of sedimentary rocks? Is it possible to extract both geological and biological signatures from the sedimentary record? And finally, to determine what kind of geological processes have controlled depositional patterns in a given basin.
