Architect of the Pontificia Bolivariana University (UPB) of Medellín. He completed doctoral studies in urbanism at the School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB), is co-founder and Director of URBAM, the Center for Urban and Environmental Studies of EAFIT University in Medellín. His experience combines knowledge of architecture, urban planning, environmental projects and territorial planning. He is a Loeb Fellow of the GSD of Harvard University and was awarded the 2016 Obayashi Award.
He has been visiting professor and jury of competitions in different schools and institutions of architecture at national and international level. He was General Manager of the Urban Development Company (EDU) Municipality of Medellín 2004-2005 and Director of Urban Projects of the Mayor's Office of Medellin 2005-2008. Currently, he is the Director of Urbam, Center for Urban and Environmental Studies of the EAFIT University.
His work has been recognized with the National Architecture Award of the Sociedad Nacional de Arquitectos of Colombia in 1996, the Urban Design Award of the Bienal Panamericana in 2008, the Curry Stone Design Prize in 2009, the 10th Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design of the GSD of Harvard University, among others.
