How can I participate in EAFIT Children's University?

This is possible if you are a relative of a University employee at EAFIT or a student at one of the private or public educational institutions that are invited each year to participate in the first stage of the EAFIT Children's University.

At the end of January, the participants of the program receive a call and an informational meeting is held, where the employees of the university and educational institutions inform about the requirements to participate in the first phase of the program, "Encuentros con la pregunta". After this, children and young people can take part in the program for four consecutive years.

In case that a child or young person that is interested in participating in the program is not invited to take part, he can postulate his application for the following year. It is essential that he manifest his intention to be part of the Universidad de los Niños in a letter.

What do the children do when they attend EAFIT Children's University?

When children come to the University, they participate in workshops which are inspired by a question. In the first phase, "Encuentros con la pregunta", these are formulated by children and youth in the program.  In the second phase, "Expediciones al conocimiento", the questions come from the fields of research of the scientists.

One Friday a month, between March and November, workshops are divided into three segments:

  • Workshop

The groups carry out activities that are connected to the question of the day. These activities include explorations through their senses, artistic expressions, orientation games, group work and conversations.

  • Aulas Vivas

Here, the participants visit laboratories and specialized areas of the university EAFIT, where they work on research projects and  topics related to the question of the day.

  • Conversations with the researcher

The children get the chance to talk with the scientist, get to know him and what he does at the University. They also discuss concepts related to the workshop, draw conclusions and answer the question of the day.
