This is possible if you are a relative of a University employee at EAFIT or a student at one of the private or public educational institutions that are invited each year to participate in the first stage of the EAFIT Children's University.
At the end of January, the participants of the program receive a call and an informational meeting is held, where the employees of the university and educational institutions inform about the requirements to participate in the first phase of the program, "Encuentros con la pregunta". After this, children and young people can take part in the program for four consecutive years.
In case that a child or young person that is interested in participating in the program is not invited to take part, he can postulate his application for the following year. It is essential that he manifest his intention to be part of the Universidad de los Niños in a letter.
By sending a request for admission to the program, written by the directives of the educational institution, and addressing it to email@example.com or by mail to Carrera 49 # 7 Sur - 50 . Avenue Las Vegas , EAFIT .
When children come to the University, they participate in workshops which are inspired by a question. In the first phase, "Encuentros con la pregunta", these are formulated by children and youth in the program. In the second phase, "Expediciones al conocimiento", the questions come from the fields of research of the scientists.
One Friday a month, between March and November, workshops are divided into three segments:
The groups carry out activities that are connected to the question of the day. These activities include explorations through their senses, artistic expressions, orientation games, group work and conversations.
Here, the participants visit laboratories and specialized areas of the university EAFIT, where they work on research projects and topics related to the question of the day.
The children get the chance to talk with the scientist, get to know him and what he does at the University. They also discuss concepts related to the workshop, draw conclusions and answer the question of the day.
Participation is free of charge. Children who attend the workshops at the Universidad de los Niños will at no point pay for their participation. The program covers the costs of materials and refreshments for the day. Only the transportation to the campus is the responsibility of the parents or educational institutions.
The workshops attended by the children and young people are held between 7:30 am and 1:00 p.m. at Universidad EAFIT.
Whenever children meet to participate in the workshops "Encuentros con la pregunta" or "Expediciones al conocimiento", the communication team of the program makes a report about the different activities carried out at the University.
Information gathered during the day will be published in the social networks Facebook (link) and Twitter: @ Uninoseafit , and on the website, so that people who are interested can get information about the activities in the workshops , Aulas Vivas and conversations with scientists.
