About Us

The Spanish as a Foreign Language Program at Universidad EAFIT in Medellin is a comprehensive program for Spanish language acquisition, allowing students to develop their language communication skills effectively.

The five levels of proficiency (A1 to C1 as described by the Common European Framework) are distributed into 16 courses, each lasting 38 hours. In order to optimize learning and classroom interaction, each group only consists of 3-8 students.

The learning experience is ensured through:

  1. Classes that are taught based on effective and proper communication in small groups with highly qualified teachers
  2. A conversation partner in order to access a more colloquial level of Spanish
  3. The possibility to attend classes in the University's undergraduate programs. This opportunity gives students access to the language at an academic level; classes are subject to University scheduling

Cultural activities offered daily throughout the campus for greater language immersion .

En voz de nuestros estudiantes, así es nuestro programa de español

“My experience has been a very positive one. I live with my daughter Kate, son-in-law Felipe and 20 month old granddaughter Amalia. We spend a lot of time with extended family, and love going for coffee most days. The teaching of, and experience in the Spanish Class is excellent. Professor Maritza Galindo explains everything very clearly, and gives a lot of individual attention when needed. It's obvious she really enjoys teaching which enhances the learning process”.

Judy McCallum, Australia

“Since arriving six weeks ago, I’ve felt at home. The soul of the city is its friendly and hard-working people. Using innovative technology to improve the lives of its citizens, the city is fast-becoming a model city in Latin America. Unfortunately the information on the Internet doesn’t do it justice. Likewise, EAFIT has a beautiful, modern campus that celebrates innovation alongside biodiversity. If you get a chance to visit Colombia, do it!”

Roxane Silvaniuk, Canada

“I really liked the atmosphere on the very modern, young spirited and inspiring campus. The courses are set up in a demanding and productive way, in very modern and latest state of the art equipped class rooms. The faculty staff, professors and administrative staff alike, were very friendly, helpful and professional. Most importantly: I made a lot of progress in my Spanish skills!”
