andres-arias.jpgAndrés Arias-Rosales considers himself primarily a scientist, followed by an engineer, and thirdly a designer. He is a researcher and educator, a Fulbright scholar, with 10 years of experience in research projects at the intersections of renewable energies, design, artificial intelligence, biomimetics, and behavioral economics. He studied Product Design Engineering at EAFIT, earned a Master's degree in Engineering Sciences from EAFIT, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and is currently pursuing a specialization in Artificial Intelligence from IBM.

His research encompasses high and low concentration photovoltaic devices, humpback whale-inspired wind turbines, solar modeling and simulation in complex and dynamic urban environments, and generative tools for collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence in design. He is currently developing artificial intelligence tools to assist in the systematic analysis of artworks by influential painters like Rembrandt, in collaboration with Arthur K. Wheelock, curator of art at the National Gallery Of Art, D.C. He is also exploring the potential of Swarm Intelligence for adaptive populations of solar devices.
