The term structure of interest rates (TS for short) shows the relationship between interest rates and investment time horizons at a given time. Approximating and forecasting the TS is useful for pricing financial instruments and managing risk. The most common way of representing the TS is using yield curves. A yield curve is obtained by plotting the yields of different bonds with similar credit risk (e.g. issued by the same institution) against their maturities.
We performed a deep diagnosis of a credit life cycle forecasting model used in the risk area of Bancolombia. The diagnosis was developed based on different errors between the real and forecasted different concepts of the credit life cycle and a measurement of the impact those error generates in the bank’s profit-loss statement. Based on the results obtained in the diagnosis an intervened forecasting model was proposed for the most critical concept; the written offs.
We will show the study of the perception of EAFIT University students about which differences in an income are fair or unfair. For this, we did a version of dictator game with some students from different under-graduated programs of the university. Using those results, we did a variance analysis and we found that there were not statically significant differences between the way to divide an income from different schools and the students have a meritocratic ideal. We did a linear regression to have a model that describe the behavior of EAFIT University students.
We model and forecast the Colombian yield curve using affine term structure models with macroeconomic factors. Models with different combinations of macro-factors outperform purely latent models at in-sample fit and out-of-sample one month ahead forecasting. The improvements are most evident in the short end of the curve..
