Jefe de la especialización en Mantenimiento Industrial. Ph.D. Université de Lorraine y PhD Universidad EAFIT.
Resumen/Summary
Professor Ronald Martinod is an inspiring mentor in the Industrial Maintenance postgraduate, where he leads courses on Preventive Maintenance and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). His teaching approach, based on active learning methodologies, encourages students to directly apply concepts to the real-world challenges of their companies, transforming everyday problems into opportunities for improvement and growth. With a solid technical background and a strategic vision of maintenance, Professor Martinod guides professionals in turning their experiences into tangible success stories, thereby strengthening their leadership and their ability to generate value within organizations. His close, results-oriented guidance transforms learning into a transformative experience that prepares participants to elevate maintenance to the strategic level demanded by today’s industry.
His career combines industry consulting with teaching, linking technical concepts to the real-world challenges faced by companies. Under his guidance, students learn to transform operational data into strategic decisions, designing maintenance plans that increase productivity, reduce costs, and strengthen organizational sustainability. The courses he teaches thus become a laboratory for change, where each participant develops the ability to turn technical problems into opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. With his leadership and vision, Professor Martinod inspires professionals to embrace maintenance as a strategic pillar of business competitiveness.
Professor Martinod possesses a wide range of technical and practical expertise that establishes him as a leading authority in strategic maintenance and asset reliability analysis. Through his applied projects, doctoral research, and industrial patents—all resulting from innovative approaches—he has developed methodologies that optimize operation and maintenance policies, taking into account not only technical costs but also social and environmental impacts, which is essential for modern organizations striving for comprehensive sustainability. His studies on complex systems (processes and machines), utilizing emerging techniques, enable companies to structure predictive and proactive strategies that reduce downtime, increase process reliability, and extend the service life of critical equipment. In today’s highly competitive industrial landscape, having an instructor with this level of expertise ensures that what is learned is applicable: students gain the ability to implement concrete and transformative improvements within their companies.
Professor Martinod believes that “maintenance is an ongoing process of making informed decisions to optimize resources; every decision becomes an opportunity to improve, learn, and move forward.” Industrial maintenance is a continuous process of analysis and decision-making; every action taken must be based on reliable information, data, and technical criteria. Thus, maintenance becomes a strategic discipline aimed at optimizing available resources.
Intereses académicos e investigativos/Research and Teaching Interest
I am interested to acquire a long-term research expertise in transport systems, specially studies focused on intermodal urban transport systems (urban aerial ropeways, railways, tramways) to improve the operation and maintenance. Having this knowledge will allow me to better understand maintenance models and to combine practice with most advanced theories.
