In a world full of environmental challenges, in health, food, these magístres address problems related to improving the quality of human beings, addressing species conservation, water, soil and air pollution, the availability of more and better foods, the invention of better health treatments; devising solutions through biotechnology, molecular biology, computational biology, biological chemistry and innovation. They contribute to mitigate climate change, analyzing the disappearance of species and ecosystem dynamics.

A Doctor of Mathematical Engineering combines mathematics and engineering to create innovative solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, resource optimization, and the modeling of complex phenomena. Knowing the underwater topography of the Colombian Caribbean coast, for the use of its resources, or identifying physical vulnerability in Colombian traditional buildings, during the different types of natural phenomena, are some of the topics that the students of the Doctorate in Engineering have worked.  

The doctorate in Earth Sciences seeks to form exceptional scientists who can develop their careers in the academy, government and private are asked, asking and answering questions related to the earth system especially in tropical areas and in northern South America. The lines of research comprise: stratigraphy, geoconservation, structural geology, coastal geomorphology, hydrogeology, environmental oceanography, paleontology and tectono-magmatism.
